I did my internet research. 1-VoIP had the best feedback, and a U.S. based customer support center. Customer support has been incredibly good. They prepared me for the entire process of set-up with a temporary number. No issues in getting this going (at that point I had both the temp VoIP number working, and my AT&T landline). Next step was to port my landline number to 1-VoIP. Again, very professional, good communications by email, no issues. While not recommended officially, I put the 1-VoIP signal into my existing home phone wiring (having disconnected the actual land-line 'at the back of the house' at the interface box). That works fine as well. One bonus for those with any 1980s touch tone phones with bells - unlike most VoIP providers, according to the internet, whose interface boxes cause these phones at best to weakly rattle, the box (called the ATA) from 1-VoIP actually puts out the correct voltage and waveform as that era Bell / Western Electric phone. All ring just like I still had my landline, except my bill is now 2/3rd's cheaper than what I had with AT&T. Another bonus, during a home power outage, their system detects it, and puts voicemails to your designated backup email address, so you do not have to wonder what calls you may have missed. Totally recommend this company.

Anytime I need something from this company they have always been top notch with helping me! The only reason I gave the 3 stars for Quality is because of network issues sometimes but its not often (I am kind of an OCD about things I need to use). Its not bad, just normal so do not take that 3 star as a bad thing. I would highly recommend this company for any phone needs you have. They are really great company. And they are in the Midwest too so they are VERY nice! Not some person from a far away country talking to you on a computer (no offense).

I have been a residential customer for over two years and am entirely satisfied. Initial setup was easy, and their superb phone support people assisted me with a few small difficulties which arose. Since then, their service has been completely rock solid. The provided anti-spam measures are quite effective, and the included electronic fax service is easy to use and adequate for my needs. I find the cost to be extremely reasonable for such good service.

I have been a customer of 1-VoIP for less than a year, but, so far, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this provider compared to the previous service I switched from. NOTHING about 1-VOIP's service, switching accounts, call quality, call reliability, customer service or technical support have been an issue at any time. While I would be happy to scream this review from the roof tops, posting here is probably way more helpful to any individual searching for reliable and oh-so-very-affordable phone service. My phone service today with 1-VoIP (I was previously with Vonage) versus where I was before switching is radically different, and am reminded of that with every issue-free phone conversation I have. It was shocking the repeated number of times within a single phone call my call would get dropped by Vonage. For years, I thought that was just the nature of VoIP service. How incredibly wrong I was. I have had zero dropped calls since my service with 1-VoIP began, and the call quality far surpasses that which I had with Vonage many times over. Make the switch to 1-VoIP and I'll meet you on the roof top when you discover how much better your calls and service can be and you, too, wish to let others know that unreliable service and dropped calls is NOT the case with 1-VoIP as your provider.

I have tried both 1-VoIP and VoIPLy and will compare the two as part of this but it is mainly about 1-VoIP. I ultimately chose 1-VoIP over VoIPLy for several reasons and I will discuss more below. Here are the pros and cons that I observed. 1. My top priority is call clarity and 1-VoIP wins out over VoIPLy and there may be specific reasons for this. VoIPLy was quite good but 1-VoIP was excellent and this was especially important because I used a fixed wireless device and was pleasantly surprised at how clear the phone conversation was with high latency. High latency (~95ms) usually starts to lose quality on VoIP devices so I had to try a few to determine how well this was going to work. The quality was heads and tails above what I got with Verizon fixed wireless phone service with no features. On 1-VoIP I talked for about 105 minutes to someone and it was crystal clear and no dropped calls. On VoIPLy I only talked about 10 mins and the call dropped. The quality and malfunctions may have to do with the SIP ALG setting that you can disable in some routers and unfortunately AT&T has a Pace 5286ac router that I use and cannot be disabled on a fixed wireless device (talks to cell towers and has a high latency). I also have one in another house that is connected to fiber and that solution would be to put another router in its DMZ and then disable SIP ALG. I had done that in the past but got rid of it because AT&T changed some DNS settings and my router no longer worked. When I called VoIPLy about this they were very responsive and made a protocol change (I believe it was from UDP to TCP) which works but the tech said at some point it may revert back. I was not happy with that because I was experiencing people trying to call and the phone would not ring and echos on people calling me. I did not have this problem with 1-VoIP and am wondering if it may be the device they use (1-VoIP uses the Grandstream HT802 that has jitter and echo correction, VoIPLy uses the HT801 which does not and not sure if this has any effect or not). Winner: 1-VoIP 2. Features: VoIPLy clearly is the winner here with unlimited outgoing minutes as opposed to 500 minutes for 1-VoIP. While VoIPLy has a chat agent and an online ticketing system, both had what I would consider excellent help and support when calling or using an agent for support and both were straight forward and very helpful with the issues that I had. VoIPLy also allows you to call 50 different countries and gives you 60 free minutes but a strange feature that I found is that it cuts off the call after 60 minutes and you have to call them back if you weren't done, the timer then starts but the calls are fairly cheap unless you call a mobile. A con for VoIPLy is that they do not have a SIP client for your PC, only mobile and I like to take my laptop and make calls from other countries. I have not traveled to evaluate how good these clients are on either the PC or mobile and I did not try the VoIPLy client on my mobile but using the PC the client seemed to work well. I also liked that VoIPLy would transcribe the voicemail so that you did not have to listen to it to get the message. Portal: This is almost never discussed but I think worth a look. The 1-VoIP portal is solid and can be accessed from one page. For VoIPLy it is not laid out particularly well and you have to hunt around. VoIPLy seems to be taking advantage of the HT801 functionality to do some of the voicemail lifting which is fine but not the friendliest to navigate. Also, going to the VoIPLy portal if you go to their website and click on customer portal it will ask for your phone # and then route you to the actual portal which will be your user name and password. This is not as straight forward as for the 1-VoIP login. This could probably be solved by book marking the second portal as it uses a GUI style login but some might not know how to do that. Winner: 1-VoIP. Price: Mostly a draw as they are the same however VoIPLy does offer more features and does not charge for shipping when receiving the adapter. Winner: VoIPLy. One issue that I saw is with 1-VoIP when I got the temporary number and called my cell phone it showed up as spam. This did not happen with VoIPLy and not sure why but I wasn't really worried as I planned on porting my own number anyway but wanted to try it out before the port, that was strange and don't know why. I was told by support to contact my cell provider to have it removed but it doesn't show up anywhere else like that. Another interesting item is the the HT802 from 1-VoIP provides two RJ-11 jacks as opposed to 1 on the HT801 provided by VoIPLy. I know that you can order another "virtual" number from 1-VoIP for $2.95/month if you want a second number. I have another VoIP system that has two jacks and the nice thing about it is if you have another phone like an office phone attached you can make outgoing calls while someone is using the phone on the other jack or it would ring if someone were trying to call you while someone was on the other phone but I have not tried that with the 1-VoIP adapter but wondering if using a fax on it would work but probably don't need it as you can fax documents from the portal. VoIPLy had a different take in that you can send an email using your VoIP number and email address and VoIPLy will intercept it and send it on to the physical fax but I did not try that feature to see how well that works. In regards to voicemail, I like how with 1-VoIP the adapter blinks if you have a voicemail which gives a nice visual clue and when you hear the voicemail it stops blinking. VoIPLy adapter does not do this so you will have to physically check your email or voicemail. Conclusion: Both of these companies seem to be good and have a very good product. Make sure if you are considering VoIPLy that you can turn off the SIP ALG setting on your routers and that should be smooth sailing but if you have an AT&T Pace 5286AC router be forewarned you will not be able to turn that off and you may have issues using VoIPLy as discussed above.

The 1VoIP service is great. I have informed all my friends and family members about the great service I have received from them when I have a problem with my new telephone, and the low cost for the phone line service. Being a senior on social security my budget can handle the cost for this service I can handle the cost with ease. I'm a widow with many health issues and medical payments require a large portion of my monthly income. In the past I was enrolled with Consumer cell, I was with them for years. In the end I just was unable to keep their service due to the monthly cost. AND then I found 1VoIP. Thank you so much for a great phone service, at a price I and all seniors can afford.

I am very pleased with the service and value of this product. AT&T's landline service just kept getting worse and worse , as they raised the price. Last straw was when they decided not to provide backup generators to keep the local nodes running during hurricane season. I was paying $60+/month with no caller ID. So, I fired them. I was able to port my old number over with no trouble, just by following the instructions that were provided. There have been no outages, the sound quality is actually better than my old landline. The features are really good. I love the voicemails getting emailed to me, and I love the e-fax feature!
