Have had Magicjack for 4 years. Paying $35 dollars a year for landline service as opposed to $50 a month before! Only problem is when my Wi-Fi provider has problems but this is no fault for Magicjack. Great way to save money!

I have been a long time customer, since 2011. My device doesn't work. They want to charge me a years worth of service for a functional device. I still have many prepaid months left from the last purchase. If they honor their customers so much why scam them for a new device instead of being grateful for their business? Their product is crap... I have not had reliable service for MONTHS. ...but what is worse is their customer service... absolutely WORTHLESS!
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
Homer (February 5th 2019) : Magicjack devices don't last forever. I am on my third. They are heat sensitive. The call quality is as good as your Internet service. Choppy Internet service (hello, Comcast) gives drop outs and hangups. I took mine to India on a biz trip; called US and people couldn't tell I wasn't home. When device starts limiting the time of your calls, it's starting to fail and just get a new one - and keep that one cool. I keep a small fan on my cable modem, wi-fi router, and Magicjack device. This last one has lasted over 7 years, whereas the others lasted maybe 3 without cooling. App works better than the phone plugged in directly - because a fast Internet chop will directly affect device, whereas the wi-fi version on cellphone might (MIGHT) glide over the chop. If you have good or excellent Internet service, and keep your device from overheating (<72 degF in still air or use a fan) you should be very happy with it.

MagicJack seemed OK for first few years now there is no phone support and chat lines put you in a queue and when you have been waiting an hour they hang up and say no available operators! Probably can't keep staff because of all the annoyed customers calling for hours! On earlier MagicJack we had relatively few problems but they stopped making them so when it died we had to replace with MagicJackGO which after a month was making calls that the recipient couldn't hear! After hours of 'Tech Support' nothing changed until the representative sent me an RMA (within 30 day Warranty window) to replace. They have had replacement a week now and nothing back! No one is answering so I tried Sales and when they finally picked up and I told them why I was calling she hung up on me! Tech Support "can't access those screens"! So, I am currently waiting on hold for 50 mins so far! I am researching alternative options!

Sometime ago my magicJack started to act up. Caller ID no longer works. I can no longer connect to voice mail. I can no longer make international calls. I was able to chat to a representative and she said that those problems are known issues and that they are working on a fix. I tried to chat back but now they charge a fee in order for you to get technical support. So no more free customer service, no telephone calls, no chat. Guess it is time to move on to a better service. MagicJack really sucks, do not buy.

Best advice I can give is: JUST DON'T! I had to keep calling to get someone that actually could answer my questions about their phone service, that should have been a big hint, but the reviews kept saying the service was good, so I endeavored. Three weeks after being charged for my phones and lines, I still do not have my phones and am still being charged for my lines. I have emailed and called them MULTIPLE times (they email me, but my replies and direct emails go into their trash folder) and they keep telling me they can not ship to my address; funny, FedEX, UPS, DHL and USPS all deliver here on a daily basis. They want to send the phones to the FedEX center and have me go pick them up; multiple times I told them fine, but yet my phones never ship, so here goes another call. I ordered my phones and lines, was charged and invoiced for the phones and lines on May 18, 2018 and I called today, June 5, 2018, just to be told that they have to reorder my phones, because it has been over a month. What? How does 23 days equal over a month? When I explained this, I was told that I was being rude and insulting - excuse me! Then they tried to tell me that I ordered the phones and lines in February, I didn't, so I asked if they were charging me for someone else, because I only have one invoice on my account and it is dated May 18, 2018; again, I was told I was being rude - they would not even let me give them the invoice number. As far as ease of setup, sound quality or service reliability, I have no idea, since I have not received the phones. Save yourself from: having to fight to get your money back, the aggravation of having to find another service after a month of more going by and absolutely zero customer service. You will be treated like you are an inconvenience to them! They could not care less about you, all they want is your money! Again, the best advice I can give is: JUST DON'T!

If you have 1 hour to waste waiting for customer service only to be told that they can't help you and that you should call a number where you will wait another hour and not get help again, then Magicjack is for you. This company sucks. They always try to scam you when something goes wrong. Try it for free for 30 days? No! They bill you the moment you give them your credit card info! The service is unreliable with sound problems where people can't hear you or you can't hear them; sometimes people call you but they can't hear the phone ring so they hang up before you can answer; or the line drops in the middle of a call. It is a nightmare. Don't buy this crap!

I started using the 1st version of MagicJack and was impressed at its ease of use. A bit lacking on sound quality at first. The 2nd version got a lot better, and now with MJGO it works flawlessly.

I don't know what all the complaints are about. If you want Ma Bell customer service, then pay Ma Bell prices. The chat feature has answered the few questions I have had. The sound quality is as good as Century Link (which I gave up when I got the MJ). I was able to port over the same number I have had for years. I was impressed when I took my MJ to Germany, plugged it into my laptop in my hotel and called the states like I was calling a neighbor with no loss in quality AND I received calls from the states without the caller knowing I was overseas. For the cost (I bought the 5 year plan on a $69.00 special offer) it has met all expectation and in fact has done all that it claims it can do. I do not work for Magicjack, I am just an average working guy trying to save money and this little gizmo does just that very well.

Magicjack is great until you have a problem. When you contact their support team (chat is the only way to do it) you will get a person that basically sends you pre-written answers, not paying attention to your existing problem (in my case: MJ not working). It was very evident and I believe that they do not understand "expert team member" (this took more then one hour) you will get the same kind of thing again. When all is done and your MJ is still not working they will put the blame on Apple (your computer) telling you to go see them to fix the problem. After 2 hours and 34 minutes I had enough and did my own trouble shooting. I fixed the problem for now. If you ask for a refund they will tell you that there is no refund after 30 days, in my case, I bough for 5 years so I am out of luck. Their fix all problem solver is to send you the setup and firmware link which does not always work! This was my experience with Magicjack.

I had used MagicJack for many years as my home phone line. It is low priced compared to other companies but when something goes wrong there is practically no customer support. You will spend hours on chat and if you call there's a long wait to speak with someone and everyone you speak to gives you a different story and nothing ever seems to get resolved. If they send you a broken device be prepared to pay the cost to ship it back. It is difficult to activate the device and it doesn't seem to be compatible with an iMac. Voice quality has gotten a little better over the years but still will sometimes cause a robotic voice and there are a lot of dropped calls. If cost is an issue then it might be worth a try, but if you want customer service then look elsewhere.
