I switched from Vonage dues to poor customer service, now I have to switch again because of dropped calls, inability to get dial tones (cable is working) and complaints from people I call about the quality. There was one day, when I needed to make important calls, that my Viatalk service was practically unavailable. I have sent in several tickets and nothing has changed. I thought I was getting a real bargain at the rate I paid, but what good is paying anything if it does not work? After all I've been through a land line is looking good again.

When we first got viatalk, we were pleased with it. The sound quality was occasionally poor and we had a few problems with our voice mail. Customer Service was always very helpful. However, the service has gotten so bad that we are looking for a new provider. I never know if my phone will be working or not. We have problems with it everyday. Throughout the day we can't get a dial tone for hours at a time or when we make calls we get a fast busy signal. I have friends that say they have been trying to get a hold of me for hours and just keep getting the message that the person at this extension is unavailable. If this happened only on occasion, I could probably live with it, but this is an everyday occurrence. If you are looking for a phone service that is reliable this is Not it. I will be switching services because I would actually like to be able use my phone.

Order/setup was very fast. There were some call quality issues, but tech support helped me figure out that I needed a new router, and since then the call quality has been crystal clear and reliable. My wife is happy now, and she is a tough customer. I was also able to send a fax at 9600 baud without a resend. The rate to Austria is very high, but I could work around that and support even helped me with that.

Nothing is good about this company. Forget about porting your number. I faxed them their required agreement 5 times and they claimed that they never received it. And by the way, in order for you to hear each time that they haven't received it takes about an hour of wait time on the phone for their customer service rep. No response to my emails. 5 days without any response. It might be cheap, but this is why its cheap. Bad connection (sound quality is just poor), never works at set up (5 of my friends ordered with me at the same time and we all had to call customer service, because our phone just wasn't working, meaning at least 1 hour waiting for customer service rep), and overall no value at all. Just a terrible experience. I will stick to my cable phone for now, since its 100% reliable, no more than 5 min wait for customer service. Yes its more expensive, but its well worth it. It is the difference between having a phone or no phone. Hope you read this and follow my recommendation of not dealing with this shady company Viatalk!!!

Viatalk used to be very good. Their customer service was very good also. Not any more. Dropped calls. Line stops working occasionally. And more importantly after three tickets no response from their customer service. As long as your service works fine it is great but if you have ANY problem you are on you own. I will cancel my service ASAP.

Very easy to set up and have had no dropped calls. Callers were getting a busy signal for no reasons, until I called support and they fixed that on the spot. It is very odd how the wait for customer service is VERY long (at least 15 to 20 minutes) but this really is not a reason to not go with them. I just put them on speaker phone and go about my business (they tell you how many are in line in front of e.g., "You are currently called number 9"). I love the price and all of the features.

This is my third VOIP phone service. Ordering was fast and easy. From order to hookup was three days. Plugged in the adapter and it worked in about two minutes and it has not stopped working. No outages that I am aware of. Great sound quality. They have the most features of any company I found and great price. Phone tech support is a bit slow but their ticket procedure is fast and very good. I do not know why they have their policy of retaining 50% of remaining prepaid balance at cancellation but I ordered anyway and I am happy.

Terms of Service are horrible - if you have to cancel, you only get a partial refund (half of the remaining contract). The "free" adapter must be returned with all the packaging, in the original box if you ever cancel - otherwise they charge you $50. Tech Support only attempts to fix the easy problems - if they can't fix it, they give up. We could not get our phone working for 10+ days and cancelled. It was working fine for 7 mo. or so. Don't count on getting your landline phone number ported, either. We signed up 2 months before our landline was terminated and they still couldn't get it ported.

I ordered this service as BYOD but couldn't get my adapter unlocked (obtained an old vonage adapter). I submitted a ticket to tech support and they provisioned and shipped me a device immediately. I received it in three days! I forwarded my current Vonage number over so that I could test quality, caller id, etc. Couldn't tell the difference until I dialed out...very long pause before connecting. Sometimes 20 seconds. I opened a ticket and in less than an hour my adapter setting was tweaked and corrected. (It was looking for 11 digit dialing and had a pause in it by default). I also had the wrong time on caller id as I am in the central time zone. Another ticket, another quick response. This time less than a half hour and a power cycle of the adapter. Perfect. I just faxed in my number port from Vonage to Viatalk and then...see ya Vonage! I had good luck with Vonage but I LOVE the feature set and customer service of Viatalk.

Excellent Service all along. It can take a while to talk to customer service if needed, but other than that I love Viatalk. Sound quality sounds just as good as my previous landline with SBC.
